Auto-Save and Opt Out Info
What is Auto-Save? Auto-save is a feature that ensures that students do not lose progress on their BioMan Biology games and activities. It does this by automatically saving student progress at various points within their game/activity. The saved information is stored locally on the students device in the browser's local storage. It is not used for any other purpose than preventing loss of student progress. It is not a cookie and is not used for any tracking purpose.
How is this different than saving my game online? For many years, the option to save your game online has been available on BioMan Biology games. This, however, requires students to save their games manually by clicking the appropriate button and inputting their information. It also stores the data in an online database so students can access their work from other devices. I have noticed that sometimes students neglect to save their progress and get frustrated when they lose it (either due to exiting the game without saving or due to technology problems). For this reason, I developed the auto-save feature. The online save option will still be available and is recommended as well.
What happens if I opt-out of Auto-Save? If you opt out of auto-save, your game will NOT be saved to your browser's local storage. If you happen to accidentally close your game, or if your browser crashes, you will lose your progress. Opting out is not recommended. It is highly recommended that you use auto-save to prevent accidental deletion of your progress.
How do I delete my auto-saved progress? If you want to delete your auto-saved progress, click the button to load your auto-saved progress, click the "Delete Auto-Saved Progress" button, and then confirm. This will delete your progress permanently, so be sure that you don't need it before you delete it!
